Dortmund / Linz, 12 January 2026. BAB TECHNOLOGIE and ekey biometric systems are further expanding their cooperation and taking the integration of ekey bionyx fingerprints in KNX building automation to a new level. With the latest update of the “ekey bionyx connect” Smart Home App, the new ekey bionyx Notification API is now available for the first time for the APP MODULE. This allows fingerprint events to be integrated into KNX, IoT and automation systems with even greater flexibility, speed and precision.

The Smart Home App is available via the BAB APPMARKET for all APP MODULE users and is already preinstalled on the APP MODULE OEM version distributed by ekey. The update is aimed in particular at system integrators, planners and specialist companies from the fields of building automation, security technology and architecture.

 

Event-based fingerprint integration for KNX and beyond

With the new Notification API, the Smart Home system responds to fingerprint actions in an event-driven manner – for example to recognized users, used fingers or defined functions. In contrast to classic, static HTTP requests, the Notification API enables significantly more dynamic and faster processing of access and user events.

– triggering personalized KNX scenes when arriving home
– targeted processing of security-relevant events
– implementing individual automations for residential and functional buildings

Up to 20 controllers, 20 users and 10 functions can be integrated per installation via the Notification API. Alternatively, the proven Third-Party API remains available for simple integrations.

The updated “ekey bionyx connect” Smart Home App with support for the ekey bionyx Notification API is available immediately:

– in the BAB APPMARKET for all APP MODULE users
– preinstalled on the APP MODULE bionyx Edition offered by ekey

Existing installations can be conveniently expanded via an app update.
